Greenberg has been involved with major tax legislation in CA for 20 years and has directed and worked on a number of statewide tax initiative campaigns.  He was a member of the CA Commission on Tax Policy in the New Economy and is a leading advocate for reform of Prop 13.

State Convention 2011 – Destination: Sacramento

When the rest of the country was turning red, we bucked the national trend and kept California a beautiful shade of blue.

After winning 9 of 9 statewide races, it’s only fitting that we celebrate our victories and hold our next state convention right here in Sacramento.

Monthly Meeting – Redevelopment

REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICTS:BOON OR BOONDOGGLE?

Dimond Library, 3565 Fruitvale Avenue, Oakland

Academic, television commentator and recent mayoral candidate Joe Tuman will discuss the pros and cons of Redevelopment Districts, which have been used extensively in Oakland.   As we know, Governor Jerry Brown (who used Redevelopment a lot for projects he advocated as mayor) is proposing that such districts be abolished in California.   Come and learn
  • What these districts are and how they function;
  • What benefits do they provide for cities like Oakland?
  • What are the disadvantages of these districts?
  • What choices do we have in CA to save money but still provide benefits to cities?

Board Retreat

The MGO Board will hold a retreat this Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 11 AM to approximately 3 PM to discuss general Club issues and strategy.  As with all Board meetings, this meeting is open to the membership, but please contact Joe Trapp, MGO President, at (510) 652-6616, if you wish to attend.
The meeting will be held at the home of Joe Trapp at 3508 Richmond Boulevard in Oakland, near the intersection of Broadway and MacArthur Boulevard.  Please note, that the home has approximately 25 front steps!
We will resume regular meetings at the Dimond Library in February, on the third Thursday night of each month.  Board meetings will be held the following Monday nights at Piedmont Gardens.
